History:
The hotel takes its name from an ancient and legendary Roman bridge built during the 1st century, today the nerve center of the resort. Its atmosphere and design have been adapted to this ancient bridge through a great work of design and lighting that guide the visitor through a typical structure of an Andalusian village.
In 1974, the German-Spanish Prince Alfonso Von Hohenlohe, founder, and owner of the successful Marbella Club Hotel began to consider the possibility of creating a new and more exclusive hotel in the area. After several conversations with one of his regular clients, Mr. Mouaffak Al Midani, in 1979 Puente Romano officially opened its doors as a hotel after the purchase of Al Midani.

At the same time, a British businessman of Iraqi origin, David Shamoon, established himself in Marbella. In 1975, the fates of Shamoon and Marbella Club Hotel crossed when Shamoon purchased the adjoining Los Delfines, property from a US citizen, for almost one million dollars at the time. Following the death of Saudi businessman Mouaffak Al-Midani, in the midst of the crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Shamoon bought the Puente Romano Hotel and, with a policy of continuous investment, brought the concept of luxury and exclusivity implemented by Hohenlohe years earlier to its peak, beginning a new golden era for the resort.
From Frank Sinatra to Novak Djokovic
The greatest example of the status and international recognition of the Puente Romano Hotel is its exclusive guest book, where celebrities, from the world of Hollywood to important politicians and Arab sheiks, share the same signature. Novak Djokovic, Sean Connery, Rod Stewart, Tom Cruise, or Frank Sinatra, are some of the stars who have chosen and continue to choose this part of the coast to spend their holidays.
